Via Margutta, new illuminations "debut" in one of the symbolic streets of the Center
December 6 date for "The stars of via Margutta":the lights of the iconic street make their debut. The illuminations with the names of 50 personagesiveniven legend enrich with atmosphere the streets of the heart of Rome, you will walk "illuminated" by Picasso, Sordi, Canova, Zeffirelli, Fellini,Morante, Pascarella, Valadier and many others. On display will be two historic nativity scenes by the masters of nativity art, authors of the Sistine Chapel nativity scene, panettone by Iginio Massari and toasts with Merlettaie Brutvariety Pecorino.
In all-Italian style with attention to detail,the Via Margutta International Association organized the inauguration of the light installation that will accompany Christmas 2023 for Romans and visitors to the city. On December 6, at Il Margutta Veggy Food &Art the lighting of the illuminations will be kicked off with representatives of Capitoline institutions, residents, referents of the various commercial activities of the street and citizens, an open event. The initiative is sponsored by thePresidency of the Commission, Culture, Science and Education of the Chamber ofDeputies.
"It will be for many, Romans and tourists alike, a thrill and undiscovered to know that the fifty names identified for Christmas 2023, are onlya small part of the beautiful personalities that have populated this unique and unparalleled street"-declares Alberto Moncada, President of the AssociazioneInternazionale di Via Margutta, the project that runs throughout the entire lapasseggiata of Via Margutta and its adjoining streets: Via Alibert, Vicolodell'Orto di Napoli and Vicolo del Babuino, foresees in fact for the coming yearsthe inclusion of all the other prestigious names that have madeVia Margutta famous in the world."
The shiny inscriptions with dimensions of three meters were made of gold-colored neon tubes, placed between the buildings and are the names of various artists, poets, writers and musicians and film personalities who have lived and worked in the mythical street over the centuries. In the pure Christmas mood, nativity scenes could not be missing, and two artistsinoti of nativity art were chosen: Giuseppe Passeri and Eva Maria Antulov the same ones who every year take care of the artistic nativity scene in the Sistine Chapel inVatican. The characters and shepherds that compose them have a height of 40 cmwith the details of the head, hands and feet are made of terra cotta, the clothes,are made of pure silk from India, sewn by hand with fine fabrics and partly gilded epassamanerie from various parts of the world. The nativities are displayed, and can be admired, near the Fountain of the Artists and next to Federico Fellini's residence.
The event could not lack the support of the Italian culturaenogastronomica, which completes the picture of the evening. Presenting his "work of art" was master and pastry chef Igino Massari with his handcrafted panettone inspired by tradition. To wash down the Christmas yeast,offered for tasting, wine from the native grape varieties of MarcheMerlettaie Brut variety Pecorino. The wine is spread by Ciù Ciù TenimentiBartolomei the group of wineries that well represent the diversityof the Italian territory and the diverse nature of native grape varieties.
